One Fine Day In Jakarta

As a capital city, Jakarta certainly has millions of problems such as capital cities in other countries such as congestion, high living costs, and public transportation that is not yet as adequate as its neighboring countries. Jakarta is also filled with high-rise buildings which are business centers and office complexes. This makes the majority of Jakarta residents have a higher level of stress compared to other cities in Indonesia, and of course, they need entertainment.

Due to a large number of office complexes, this causes not many tourist attractions in Jakarta. Most of us are certainly familiar with the National Monument (Monas), Ancol Dreamland Park, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). For residents of native Jakarta, of course, they are already quite bored with these tourist attractions. Apparently, you don't have to visit a big tourist spot for a vacation. We can also do the city explore and enjoy the atmosphere of Kota Jakarta like I did before.

I called it as a "One Fine Day In Jakarta". With good places, and a good companion.

1. Balai Kota & @semasadikotatua
Balai Kota is an office for the provincial governor of DKI Jakarta. It's actually a closed place for the public. But for only an event, @semasadikotatua, they were opened for the public. Yes, they did an "open house"!

Fyi, @semasadikotatua is a local event, they provide a walking city tour, creative local brand bazaars, mini live music, picnic, etc. They hold their events annually with different places in every event. The first place of their event is the Old City in English, so they named their event as @semasadikotatua (when in the Old City). I think the event should be named as #semasadibalaikota but it's a little bit impossible to change their username in Instagram so they only made a hashtag.

2. Have A Meal in Claypot Popo
Claypot Popo is a legend! Claypot popo has some branches in around the city, one of the branches I visited is located in Sabang. I love the building, it looked old but vintage, Yeah, old but gold.

Btw "Popo" means grandmother, yes they will serve you best dishes made by "grandma" and will bring you back to the nostalgic of the childhood. As its name, Claypot, they will serve the dishes in a clay pot. The menus are simple but lovely, hot rice or a 'misua' (like a white noodle) with many kinds of delicious topping you can choose. I tried Claypot Misua Tahu Telur Asin, Claypot Sapi Cah Bawang Putih, and Claypot Siram Telur Matang. I love them all, but Tahu Telur Asin is the best.

*Tips*
It's a recommended food place to visit, but the building is pretty small so it makes the place crowded and there will be a long waiting list queue at the weekend. (In my experience) they didn't serve a formal waiting list. I think it was because there weren't many waitresses so the queue is a little bit messy. They won't tell you that there are guests who leave and there's an empty table to us. So we have to be active to check the empty table by our self and don't forget to keep the queue well.

3. Enjoy Public Transportation
It's pretty expensive if you use the taxi to go around the city, so I recommend you to use public transportation here. You can enjoy Transjakarta, Metro Trans, Commuter line, MRT and (coming son) LRT. Oh, don't forget to try the free double-decker city bus here. They will bring you around Jakarta and see many kinds of historic and beautiful building around.

blurry but I luv, thanks for the one fine day!
