One Day Travel Guide to Melaka
Melaka or Malacca town is the capital of Melaka state in Malaysia. Located 148 km from Kuala Lumpur, Melaka is dubbed as "The Historic State". The town was colonialized by Portugis, Dutch, and British. Historic centre of Melaka was just been added into the list of UNESCO World Heritage site. So, when you visit the town you'll feel the atmosphere of historic. In addition to the historic atmosphere, you'll feel the art of town and i bet you'll love it much! Well, I visited Melaka about a few days ago with my neighbours and accompanied by local guides (they're friends of my neighbour who are taking study in Malaysia). We did one day trip in Melaka well. So here are things you can do in one day there.
1. Walk Along the River
I think the people here never run out of their creativity. Just try walk along the Melaka river and you'll find something interesting. Hipster buildings which painted with many kind of murals stand firmly along the river. There are also so many good spots to take photos. While walking, just enjoy the art of building, try the hipster cafes, and greet the locals. By the way, you also can enjoy the river by taking a cruise.
2. Try the Local Cuisine
During in Malaysia, i've tried some local cuisines and i love them much. One of special Melaka cuisine is Asam Pedas. Asam Pedas is Sour-Spicy in english. The main ingredient in it is usually seafood or freshwater fish. It's cooked in asam (tamarind) fruit juice wirh chilli and some spices. The price was about 9-10 RM. For Muslims, do not worry! Because most people in Malaysia are Islamic then it won't be difficult to find halal food here. Btw i'm sorry i was very hungry so i forgot to take photo of the food, then i took the photo from Google.
3. Stroll around the Red Square
Red Square or Dutch Square is surrounded by red painting buildings. This is one of the icons in Melaka, because when I typed 'Kota Melaka' in Google at the first moment, the first thing that come up was it. In Red Square, there are some historic building like Red Church and Stadhuys. What you'll love about Red Square is the armosphere like a carnival square. You can find many locals and tourist from another country. You can do so many things here like rent local rickshaws. The unique of the local rickshaws is they're being decorated colorfully and there are many cartoons in it like Hello Kitty, Pokemon, etc. Other than that, you can shop the local souvenirs here.
4. Visit the Historical Building and Museums
We have already discussed a little of the historic buildings in Melaka, yup, Red Church and Stadhuys. Other than that, there are many other historical buildings like A' Famosa and St. John Church. There are also some museums here like Baba Nyona Heritage Museum, Melaka Sultanate Place Museum, Maritime Museum, Muzium LTDM (Naval Museum), Malaysia Architecture Museum, Kite's Museum, Peoples Museum, and many more.
5. Visit Art Market and Gallery
Like i said before, you'll feel the historical and art atmosphere in Melaka. You'll find some awesome art markets and galleries along the road. I beat that you can also find the antiques that you've been looking fore here.
6. Enjoy Sunset at Klebang Desert
I think there are just a few bloggers who will recommend you to visit Klebang Dessert. But for me, it's a must It's better to visit here before Maghrib or before sunset. Things you can do here take the road off of a car and enjoy the amazing sensation of it and walk in the desert with a bare foot and you'll feel like you're having a foot massage (because the desert is not too soft). After that, you can enjoy the sunset view in here with the beautiful Klebang desert and beach at one.
7. Visit Jonker Walk Night Market
Located in Jonker Street, Jonker Walk Night Market opens in Friday and Saturday at 18.00 - 00.00. Jonker Street is Melaka's most famous street which transformed into an incredible night market. Jonker Walk Night Market comes to life in full color with a lively street party-like atmosphere. You can taste so many good culinary here like staple foods until many kinds of snacks.

That's all one day travel guide to Melaka. Here are some tips to do your next one day trip to Melaka:
1. It's better to explore the town from morning because you'll need extra hours to explore the town in one day. If you go to the Melaka from Kuala Lumpur, you're better depart after sunrise.
2. Most likely the activity that you do most there is walking, so wear your most comfort cloth and sneaker.
3. It's better to bring a bottle of drink wherever you go. You will find it harder to find a drink in a tourist spot, or when you find it will cost more usually.
4. Don't forget to bring the umbrella even it's not a rainy day because during the walk you will rarely find a roof.
5. When you find a good spot to take photos, don't take some photos immediately. Forget about the instagram feeds. Take so many photos will ruin the meaning of the journey itself. Just enjoy the trip!
That's all i can tell to you, i promise to my self to go back to this lovely and amazing town.
