I can't stop admiring Yogyakarta and everything in it. From the last post where I told you that i've visited it, i can't stop thinking about what i want to post in my blog. Here i wanna tell you about Malioboro street. Malioboro street is a major shopping street in Yogyakarta. This street become iconic because it's the centre of Yogyakarta's largest tourist district surrounded with many hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby. People usually shop many souvenirs, enjoy local culinary, or just hang with family or friend out. Other than that, there are so many things you can do here. Here are 5 unsual things to do in Malioboro.

1. Take Human Interest Photos
First thing I will tell you that i will invite you to do my hobby. Yup, i love photography. You can do it with many photography genres like street photography, night-long exposure photography, dll. For me, the best genre of photography to apply here is human interest. Why? First, the street must be crowded with various types of people. Second, you'll love the friendly nature of the locals.

2. Paint Zero KM Yogyakarta
Inspired by my last trip to jogja, i found something that draw my attention. It was almost dusk. At the end of Malioboro Street, at Zero KM of Yogyakarta exactly, i met a man who sat down on the sidewalk while drawing and painting there. I was amazed by what he did and inspired me to do the same thing while traveling to a place.

3. Hunting Vintage Postcards
I used to collect some postcards from every city or country i visit. Then now i'll tell you something, it's a good news for postcard collectors! You can find awesome vintage postcards in Mirota Batik. Still located in Malioboro street, it's one of best souvenir shopping center. Here are some postcards i got there.
4. Join the Street Performer
You can find a street performer in malioboro street. They are made up of angklung players, drum players etc. They band together to play the songs. Enjoying their perform is a usual thing to do there. You can ask them to join for a while try to play their instruments and perform together.

5. Visit the Tourist Information Center
Although you are a native of Indonesia, you are still obligated to visit this place. You can ask so many things about Yogyakarta and the staffs will answer you clearly and surely happy (because eventually they aren't idle anymore). You can ask about recommended culinary in town or unspoiled tourist attraction, an untold story of Yogyakarta kingdom history, a unique culture of local society, or just chat with the staff. Oiya, you can ask for free paper map of course. Just try to make a trip without check the google maps, use a paper map and you'll get another sensation!
